Title: Quality Assurance Manager Location:
Gloucester, MA FT/PT: Full-time Job
Description:
Responsible for managing all aspects of quality assurance
through direction of the company ISO 9001 Quality Management System. Key functions
entail coordinating daily activities of the quality assurance department and include;
coordinating supplier corrective action issues and driving resolutions, ensuring
continuous improvement of department processes and systems that align with company
objectives, and execution of departmental tasks to establish a quality organization
with a focus on providing exceptional value to our customers. Essential
Functions and Responsibilities: - Drive results
in department QA activities and workload to meet the goals of the company.
- Works
directly with process owners to design and implement process controls, standards
and inspection checkpoints for products or parts to ensure that quality standards
are met during production.
- Set/improve performance and
compliance objectives (i.e, internal failure rate, customer failure rate) and
report on the objectives monthly, including RMA part failure analysis.
- Ensure
that the quality control system functions in accordance with company standards
and ISO 9001:2008
- Develop and manage quality assurance
metrics for performance improvement of all teams. Implement ongoing quality improvement
processes working with interdepartmental teams.
- Facilitate
and/or lead cross-functional problem solving projects on parts or processes within
the company related to customer complaints, issues found during qualification
testing, high return rates, and/or returned product analysis.
- Work
with purchasing staff to implement internal and external measurement tools to
establish requirements and assess process performance of supplier quality and
corrective actions and maintain supplier rating system.
- Coordinate
the maintenance of the inspection check sheets, QC holds inventory, returns data,
first article, safety and regulatory certifications, and other required documentation
within the QA department.
- Aid in the integration of
the QA department into other key areas of the organization by identifying and
implementing effective communication processes and feedback channels.
- Development
of inspection protocol and Best Practices to improve inspection efficiency and
effectiveness.
- Provide technical assistance in
modern quality techniques and processes to cross functional departments.
- Review
customer complaints and monitor returns to determine where emphasis should be
placed to prevent recurrence and identify emerging trends.
- Liaise
with customers' auditors and ensure the execution of corrective action and compliance
with customers' specifications.
- Maintain customer
satisfaction and focus.
- Insure timeliness, clarity
and accuracy of all technical documentation and correspondence.
- Ensure
that all procedures within the company conform to health and safety regulations,
financial policies and employment legislation.
Qualification
Requirements: - Bachelor Degree or equivalent,
and minimum five years experience in quality assurance position for manufacturing.
- Engineering degree a plus.
- A
demonstrated ability to assimilate new technology and manage controversial situations
across lines of authority at all professional levels.
- Possess
a thorough knowledge of ISO 9001:2008, Quality Management Systems, Quality Specifications,
and statistical methods as applied to processes and quality probabilities.
- Strong
leadership skills that inspire team confidence and respect while motivating members
in a creative and effective manner.
- Extremely strong
communication, report writing, problem solving and project management skills.
- Strong
analytical skills and experience with implementation and administration of quality
assurance metrics, such as defect profiles and performance to entry/exit criteria.
- Familiarity with the tools, concepts and methodologies
of quality management.
- Working knowledge of quality
assurance with respect to cell manufacturing processes, R&D design and engineering,
HASS product testing, machining and CNC (computer numerical control) machining,
dark room, painting, and welding.
- Must have
a desire for achieving excellence in customer satisfaction, process and product
quality and reliability.
